On Wednesday, May 2, 2018, Jaymi McAlpine, BSN, was honored with the Daisy Award, a recognition given to nurses who display extraordinary care for their patients. Jaymi was nominated by two sisters whose mother received care from South County Home Health:
“Jaymi has been compassionate, understanding, caring, willing to call my sister and me to answer any questions without feeling like we are putting her out. She is amazing with my mom. We feel we are working with her as a team to help my mom the best we can. She never takes the easy way out and does everything she can to do what is best for my mom, even though she is a challenging case.”
The award presentation came as a surprise to Jaymi, who has worked for SCHH since 2014. The announcement was made after a recent staff meeting.
“I’ve wanted to be a nurse since I was 12 years old,” Jaymi said. “I enjoy helping people. My goal has always been to make sure my patients are happy and satisfied. I am always happy when I can make a difference in someone's life.”
Jaymi was the first South County Home Health nurse to receive the Daisy Award.
