It may not have had the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, but the nursing staff at South County Health were given the red carpet treatment, literally.
Nurses Week 2021, officially recognized May 6-12 to coincide with Florence Nightingale’s birthday, was observed May 3 – 7 at South County Health.
Members of South County Health’s Leadership Team arrived at South County Hospital, the Medical and Wellness Centers in East Greenwich and Westerly, and South County Home Health before nurses arrived for their shifts, to welcome them at the door with a red carpet, festive balloons, and hot coffee to start their day.
Other activities, such as guest speaker, Dr. Megan Pinkston-Camp who spoke on resilience, a characteristic that healthcare workers and other frontline staff needed over the past year, trivia, a volleyball game, and a light parade put on by first responders from the area in honor of their nursing colleagues.
Nurses were encouraged to reflect on their profession and personal vocation, submitting ‘My Why’ stories of why they chose to become a nurse and how their choice has affected them.
