As part of South County Health’s digital transformation strategy to improve patient access to healthcare and personal health information, an upgraded electronic medical record (EMR) system used by South County Medical Group practices was launched on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, along with an enhanced Patient Portal.
This portal is used for primary care and specialty practices, including:
- Center for Women's Health
- Infectious Disease
- Cardiology
- General Surgery
- Primary Care
- Nephrology
- Outpatient Laboratory Services
- Pulmonology
- Urology
Hospital departments such as Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Registration, and Billing are also impacted by this change as the new Medical Group platform now interfaces with the existing system used in the hospital.
Enhanced Patient Portal
Upon launching the new South County Medical Group Patient Portal, patients will be asked to enroll in the new platform even if they are already using the existing SCMG Patient Portal.
Information about this transition was sent in advance to patients and instructions can be found on South County Health’s Patient Portal page of the website.
Among its benefits, the new South County Medical Group Patient Portal will offer patients the ability to:
- Exchange secure messages with their providers and office staff
- View visit history documentation
- View medication record information
- Schedule, reschedule, or cancel office appointments or virtual visits
- Complete registration information and pre-visit questionnaires
- Pay bills
- Add-on capabilities for future integrations
Patients also have more mobility to access their information from their computer or handheld device.
Recently, South County Health released the SCH NOW app that brings all of the features patients use right to their desktop or mobile device.
This functionality helps patients stay connected to their health information using Get Care NOW, a feature that saves time when visiting our Express Care services, and even allows access to eVisits and Video Visits with our providers.
These added features, along with the enhanced Patient Portal for South County Medical Group practices that integrates with existing technologies, significantly improves access to healthcare and health information to improve the overall patient experience.
South County Health continues to be Rhode Island’s most trusted healthcare partner in person and online.
