South County Hospital, a part of South County Health, received the Women’s Choice Award - named one of “America’s 100 Best Hospitals” - and earned Straight A’s from The Leapfrog Group, recognizing it as a high quality healthcare provider for consumers.
Healthcare recognitions with Women’s Choice Award are evaluated using a combination of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results along with primary research about women’s preferences in regard to healthcare. The HCAHPS survey allows patients to rate hospitals across several areas of measure which include: effective communication with nurses and doctors, responsiveness to request for help, pain management, explanation about medications before being administered, bathroom and room cleanliness and patient recommendation rating.
For the sixth consecutive year, South County Hospital earned straight A’s for hospital quality and patient safety. The Leapfrog Group, the nation’s leading nonprofit watchdog on hospital quality and safety, made the announcement after completing a review of 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. The performance measures produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. South County Hospital is the only hospital in Rhode Island to earn straight A’s for six consecutive years.
