South County Surgical Supply is now a phone call away

South County Surgical Supply, the area's "go-to" retailer for medical supplies and equipment, is changing its retail business model from a storefront to an exclusive pick-up and delivery model so customers can shop conveniently from their home or office.

On Friday, August 30, South County Surgical Supply will close its sole retail location at 14 Woodruff Ave., Suite 13 in Narragansett to focus on a home delivery service model that is becoming more common in the retail environment.

“This change will be seamless to most of our customers who already use our pick-up and delivery service,” said Paul Desmarais, manager of South County Surgical Supply. “And it will add more convenience to those who need medical supplies but don’t have time to get to our store.”

South County Surgical Supply has been serving Rhode Island for 40 years.

It will continue to offer many of the same items that are covered by insurance such as:

• Commodes/bathroom aids
• Walkers/crutches/canes (basic items only- no accessories)
• Wheelchairs
• Breast pumps
• CPAP devices and other respiratory items

Some items will no longer be stocked under the new model, such as:

• Podiatry items (diabetic shoes will still be available)
• Bedding items/bed wedges/cushions
• Over-the-counter dressing supplies
• Compression garments and supplies
• Specialty items for walkers
• Orthopedic bracing/splints

Customers who currently receive products from South County Surgical Supply on a regular basis or want to set up scheduled delivery are asked to place orders one to two weeks in advance to ensure timely delivery.
