For Certified Nurse Midwife Deb White, welcoming babies into the world has always been more than a career—it’s been her calling. With over 35 years of experience as an OB-GYN provider, Deb has celebrated countless special moments with families, but one particular milestone had always been on her bucket list: delivering the first baby born in Rhode Island for the New Year.

In 2025, a dream became a reality for Deb White, CNM. “After being on-call New Year’s Eve for 34 of the last 37 years, I was finally blessed to help in the birth of ‘Baby New Year RI 2025 at South County Health!’ I have loved attending women in labor and witnessing their strength as they birth their babies.”

Baby Boy Xev Enzo Finberg was born on January 1, 2025 at 12:03a.m. Pictured are the baby with parents Ptolemy Tassone and Tal Finberg during a visit with Deb in late January.

Deb will soon be transitioning to a GYN-only role based in Warwick so 2025 was her last opportunity to make good on this dream.

Deb’s professional shift will allow her to focus on providing personalized care for women’s gynecological needs while continuing to share her expertise with new generations of healthcare providers and patients.

Whether she’s delivering life-changing care in the delivery room or providing expert guidance in gynecological health, Deb’s commitment to women’s wellness remains unwavering. With Deb’s transition, and the addition of new midwives, South County Health will begin accepting new annual visits later this spring.

Stay tuned for more updates and appointment availability.
