“I started out as a Medical Receptionist at Primary Care Narragansett and was there for about a year and a half until I heard about the MA Training Program. It was something I was always interested in, and with the support of other staff, I applied and was accepted.”
Mentorship and Support
“My manager, LaDawn Marafitte, has been a huge support since the beginning when I told her I was applying for the position. Knowing she had confidence in me, and how proud she was of me for stepping into something new, meant a lot. She continues to check in and make sure everything is going well, which has been incredibly valuable. She is one of the BEST!”
The Power of Education and Hands-On Experience
“My preceptor, Nicole Beauregard, has also been an amazing mentor. She’s shared so much knowledge with me, included me in all that she does, and has given me confidence in my abilities. The educators for the MA Training Program were also incredibly supportive, always guiding me and being a helping hand when needed.”
SCH Benefits That Supported Development
“The benefit of growth—being allowed to advance within the organization and having SCH support those decisions—is something rare and extremely valuable.”
Looking Ahead: Future Goals in Healthcare
“As I’m just starting out, I plan on staying in this role for some time. However, I am considering going back to school for nursing in the future.”
Education and Certifications
“My bachelor’s in biological sciences has helped prepare me for this role, particularly with anatomy and physiology. My experience as a pharmacy technician has also been useful in learning medications for reconciliations. Additionally, my time as a receptionist at SCH helped me become familiar with the system and its functions, which made my transition smoother.”
Why SCH?
“The people! My coworkers and leaders have been amazing—they feel like family. Plus, I love my job. I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field.”
