A Patient’s Story of Exceptional Care

In his nomination, patient Michael Monteforte shared a compelling story of Ashley’s quick thinking and unwavering support during a critical moment.

"Ashley responded to my call that I was bleeding, and it turned out I was really bleeding. She did her best to apply pressure, then removed all bandages to find the source. She was able to locate the area of concern and applied pressure to the wound to slow the bleeding. Dr. Brady arrived and pinpointed exactly where the bleeding was. He instructed Ashley to apply pressure with gauze to the spot. She stood by my side, 8 months pregnant, without a single complaint. Instead, she was a joy—happy to apply her wonderful nursing skills.

I was transported in my bed to radiology, and Ashley walked alongside me the whole way, staying with me until dismissed by radiology. Her course of action stopped the bleeding and allowed the surgeon to proceed with my plan of care, all because of Ashley’s diligence. Hooray for her!"
