Members of South County Health's Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees celebrated its Annual Volunteer Recognition event on December 9, shining a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of its volunteer team. Among the night’s highlights was the announcement of the Volunteer of the Year: Kathy Cournoyer.
Presenting Kathy with the 2024 SCH Volunteer of the Year award was CEO and President, Aaron Robinson, and Director of Patient Experience and Volunteer Services, Nadine McCauley. A dedicated volunteer whose heart is truly routed in service, Cournoyer has volunteered over 1,700 hours of service over her 8 years at South County Health with over 600 hours dedicated to the Gift Shop, along with countless hours assisting with the annual Auxiliary Fashion Show at the Dune's Club.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of so many critical services we provide at South County Health, and the "special sauce" in what makes South County Health so special. I am regularly amazed by their generosity and spirit, Kathy truly embodies the values of compassion, dedication, and community,” said Aaron Robinson, South County Health CEO. “All of our volunteers are the unsung heroes who make our mission possible, and Kathy has set an extraordinary example for all.”
Volunteers by the Numbers
In 2024, a total of 167 volunteers generously donated 21,376 hours to South County Health, supporting essential services and making a difference in the lives of patients and staff alike. At South County Health, volunteers provide essential social support to our patients, their families, and other visitors. Whether a volunteer is interested in greeting and directing visitors, handing out items from our Comfort Cart, or assisting with other tasks, South County Health can match them with the right opportunity. Volunteers receive the personal satisfaction of helping others, making new friends, learning new skills, and exploring careers.
