This is yet another example of how this group has intentionally misled and caused unnecessary confusion in the community. Unfortunately, it required, SCH to seek legal intervention and a third-party validation to ensure clarity.

In support of transparent and accountable governance, South County Health (SCH) pursued legal action following the announcement of an April 3rd event organized by a local activist group. The event was inaccurately promoted as an official “South County Healthcare System Endowment Meeting” or “Special Members Meeting,” and falsely suggested it held the authority to pass binding motions.

To ensure the community was provided with accurate information, SCH requested judicial review. After evaluating the relevant information and subsequent communications from the judge, the activists swiftly withdrew their false misrepresentation and communicated they would not proceed with holding the meeting under our name and instead pledged to recharacterize their gathering as a community meeting. The judge issued an order that confirms this, preventing their misleading attempts to hold a “Special Members Meeting” they have no authority to convene.

South County Health welcomes the outcome of this lawsuit as an opportunity to reaffirm what we have known all along - this group repeatedly misleads the community and lacks any authority to call an official meeting, amend Endowment bylaws, or elect new board members — despite previous public claims to the contrary.

This is yet another example of how this group has intentionally misled and caused unnecessary confusion in the community. Unfortunately, it required, SCH to seek legal intervention and a third-party validation to ensure clarity.

While we acknowledge rights of the activists to hold a community meeting on April 3rd, we encourage them to foster open dialogue — allowing attendees to ask questions and hear directly from South County Health advocates. This would stand in contrast to their previous meetings, which have been structured to present only one perspective, featuring pre-selected speakers without opportunities for meaningful community engagement.

We appreciate the continued trust and support of our community as we remain focused on our mission of delivering high-quality healthcare.
