Addressing the misleading information from the "Save South County Hospital" group

We are extremely sensitive to the community’s concerns regarding our beloved community Hospital. While we continue to listen to those concerns, we assert that the claims made by this group are intentionally misleading. This group’s actions are causing harm to the very institution, staff, and patients they claim to protect.  For the benefit of the community, we call on them to stop.

Sharing false narratives as facts, such as a negative work environment and high turnover rates caused by the Administration, is patently false as evidenced by the information shared on our Addressing the Facts page, and it only makes it harder to recruit physicians and other providers. It distracts us from the critical tasks of pursuing partnership opportunities and working toward financial sustainability. Most importantly, it makes patients anxious and scared to receive care at the highest quality hospital in the state – when objectively there is no reason for them to be.

The South County Health Board of Trustees has made every effort to engage this group by providing ample opportunities for respectful dialogue. We have attentively listened to their concerns, conducted thorough investigations, and collected both qualitative and quantitative data, including input from local healthcare providers who are active in the community and poised to continue practicing for many years to come. The review process that the group requested has now concluded, and no new or relevant findings have emerged. We have shared information on our decision process with them privately. While this group would like to perpetuate a crisis of trust in the community, and an unwillingness to listen on our behalf, we believe they are perpetuating a crisis of truth.

We are hopeful that we can move forward with a renewed commitment to the mission that unites us in purpose: the health and welfare of our patients and the broader community.
