South County Hospital has been named a 2025 Castle Connolly Top Hospital for Spine Surgery, placing it among the top 25% of hospitals nationwide for excellence in spine care.

This inaugural recognition underscores South County Health’s commitment to delivering exceptional orthopedic outcomes through its Center for Advanced Orthopedic Surgery, in partnership with Ortho Rhode Island.

“We’re proud to be one of the first hospitals in the nation to receive this recognition,” said Aaron Robinson, President and CEO of South County Health. “This serves as yet another indicator of the world-class orthopedic care Rhode Islanders have come to know us for through our outstanding partnership with Ortho Rhode Island, and reinforces our position as a local and national leader in spine surgery.”

Michael Bradley, MD, MBA, President of Ortho Rhode Island, said “we are honored to partner with South County Hospital to provide world-class spine surgery that has helped earn this recognition from Castle Connolly. It is a testament to the expertise of our spine surgeons - Drs. Ian Madom, Akshay Yadhati, and Diana Douleh, and to our partnership's collaborative commitment to the highest quality care that puts patients first. We are grateful to work with South County Hospital to provide the spine care every member of our community deserves.”

The Castle Connolly Top Hospitals designation is a newly launched, data-driven program that evaluates hospitals across the country based on clinical excellence, patient safety, outcomes, and physician expertise. By analyzing comprehensive claims data that reflects the full patient journey, Castle Connolly highlights hospitals that are setting new standards in specialized care.

Robinson emphasized the significance of the recognition and the skilled team behind it: “This honor underscores the exceptional expertise and dedication of our Ortho Rhode Island spine surgeons—Drs. Madom, Yadhati, and Douleh—as well as our entire surgical services team. Their commitment to patient-centered care and surgical excellence truly reflects the high standards we uphold at South County Hospital.”
