Inpatient Hospice Care

At South County Hospital, in southern Rhode Island, inpatient hospice care is available thanks to our partnership with HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care.

HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care is the second-oldest hospice agency in the nation and the largest and most experienced hospice agency in the state. Hospice care focuses on caring and comfort, not cure, and is offered to patients with life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, AIDS, end-stage heart and lung disease, kidney disease, liver disease and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's and Lou Gehrig's disease, among others.

In tandem with South County Hospital’s staff of physicians, nurses, and technologists, the caregivers of HopeHealth provide quality, compassionate care to inpatients facing the advanced stages of life-threatening illnesses. Offering a comprehensive scope of medical and psychosocial services, hospice care can bring peace, dignity, and comfort to patients and their families at one of life’s most important stages.

At South County Hospital we recognize the importance of the environment during this time of a patient’s life. To add a greater sense of peacefulness, our hospice rooms are located in a quiet, light-filled area of the hospital. Like all inpatient rooms here, our hospice rooms are private with en suite baths. They are also larger than our other rooms and include a pull-out couch that can accommodate a loved one for an overnight stay.
