Since 2010, South County Hospital has been a recognized leader in robotic-assisted surgery. Leading the way globally, we have invested in robotic technology that results in more precise surgeries with smaller incisions, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, and better outcomes for our patients.
(Hip & Knee Surgery)
In partnership with the expert surgeons from Ortho Rhode Island, we are the worldwide leader in Mako robotic-arm assisted surgery for hip and knee replacements, with more than 8,000 procedures to date. It is part of the reason we perform more orthopedic surgeries than any hospital in the state.
Meet Alex: One robotic surgery. Two new hips. My first bike ride in nine years.
(Urological, Colorectal & General Surgery)
Since June 2018, South County has been home to the da Vinci Xi surgical system, utilized by our highly experienced surgeons for urologic and general surgeries.
(Orthopedic Spine Surgery)
In January 2019, our operating rooms were the first in the state to utilize the navigation-guided, robotic-assisted system known as ExcelsiusGPS for spine surgery.
Our surgeons, collectively, have performed tens of thousands of robotic surgeries. And we are home to great in-hospital care that is consistently ranked #1 in patient satisfaction. It’s why more patients are coming to the Institute for Robotic Surgery at South County Health.
