Bringing new life into the world is a momentous occasion, and for one grateful patient, it became a story of trust, courage, and profound gratitude for the Women & Newborn Care Unit at South County Health.

"Here to give the biggest, most thankful thank you to the Women & Newborn Care Unit at SCH. I had such a great experience, especially given my circumstances."

A Reassuring Journey from Pregnancy to Delivery

Julie's journey started with comprehensive and compassionate care throughout her pregnancy, thanks to Katlin Lee, MD. "Dr. Lee was my rock throughout my pregnancy and the reason I decided to deliver at South County. With all the issues circulating the hospital recently, I was a little concerned about delivering there, but my experience with her gave me trust and encouragement in the facility. She was the reason I stuck with South County as my choice."

During her delivery, Julie highlighted the exceptional support of Certified Nurse Midwife Naomi Deutschman.

"Every single person we came in contact with was beyond friendly and helpful. Naomi, the midwife who delivered our little guy, was so encouraging and made it a great experience. The lactation consultants went above and beyond."

Facing an Emergency with Heroes by Her Side

After a smooth delivery, complications arose. Julie lost four liters of blood, a life-threatening situation that required immediate action.

"To say that these people saved my life is not an overreaction," she said. "Dr. Megin Dalton saw that something was wrong and took action quickly and with authority. She IS the reason I'm here today. The awareness of the nurses and doctors and their ability to react quickly, confidently, and all while keeping me at ease was beyond comparison. These people are the reason we got to come home as three."

Continued Care Through a Second Hospital Visit

A few days after delivery, Julie had to return to South County Hospital with postpartum preeclampsia. "Even during my second stay, I received the same level of care. I needed around-the-clock monitoring, and I was so grateful that my husband and new baby were able to stay with me during that scary time."

A Call to Action: Support Life-Saving Blood Donations

Julie's recovery illustrates the importance of blood donations. She says, "Please donate blood,” she urged. "Thank you to those that have donated. I wouldn’t be here without you."

A Testament to Compassionate Care

"I wanted to share a happy and encouraging story about South County Hospital. We quite literally could not have made it through without these amazing people here."
Julie’s story is a powerful reminder of the dedication and skill of South County Health’s Women & Newborn Care Unit. For Julie and her family, their care made all the difference, transforming a nerve-wracking situation into one filled with gratitude and hope.
