South County Health and Ortho Rhode Island strengthened their Joint Reconstructive Team with the addition of David Vegari, MD. The board-certified orthopedic surgeon joined the team at Ortho Rhode Island and was recently approved to practice at South County Hospital.
South County Hospital pioneered the use of robotic-assisted surgery for hips and knees with the Mako SmartRobotic system, where over 10,000 successful surgeries have been performed over the 10 year span.
Dr. Vegari is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with a focus on joint replacement of the hip and knee, arthroscopic knee surgery, fracture care, and non-operative management of the hip and knee. After earning his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Vegari completed his orthopedic residency at Thomas Jefferson University, and his fellowship training at OrthoCarolina. He is the author of several peer-published papers, book chapters, and podium presentations.
Dr. Vegari specializes in reconstruction of the hip and knee in adults, including total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision hip and knee replacement. He looks forward to helping patients with hip and knee conditions return to their active lifestyles.
