On Friday, November 1, members of South County Health's Executive Leadership Team dedicated their afternoon to giving back to the community by volunteering with Kitchen of Hope, a meal assistance program run by St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wakefield. Executive Leaders Aaron Robinson, Anitra Galmore, Kevin Charpentier, Andrew Prescott, Tom Breen, Angie Mathieu, Christine Foisy-Kent, and Ian Clark joined Kitchen of Hope in packaging over 300 meals for delivery to local seniors, homebound and disabled neighbors, and families in need.
In addition to the meal deliveries, Kitchen of Hope, in partnership with St. Francis of Assisi, also set up racks and tables outside Peace Dale Congregational Church, offering free winter coats and hand-made scarves for individuals needing extra warmth this season.
Kitchen of Hope operates weekly, providing nutritious meals every Friday, thanks to the generosity of local supporters who help fund these meal deliveries. Currently, the program uses kitchen facilities at Peace Dale Congregational Church and is supporting their Peacedale Dinner Table program by supplementing their Wednesday meals. Peace Dale Congregational Church offers 200 meals each Wednesday, while Kitchen of Hope provides an additional 300+ meals on Fridays. Plans for Kitchen of Hope’s own commercial kitchen at St. Francis of Assisi are underway, with the new facility expected to open this spring.
South County Health encourages community members to support Kitchen of Hope's mission. Contributions directly help fund the weekly meal deliveries and assist in St. Francis's efforts to establish a permanent kitchen space, which will help sustain and expand their outreach.
