To sum it up, Nancy Perry is an incredible volunteer.
The retired executive assistant in the South Kingstown School Department started volunteering at South County Health on June 13, 2014 and has served over 2,000 hours of volunteer service at South County Hospital.
Nancy, a Wakefield resident, is an integral part of the hospital and helps keep the flow going, according to Nadine McCauley, the organization’s director of patient experience.
“Nancy is always incredibly flexible when it comes to coming in extra days, staying late, coming in early, and just helping out in general whenever she can,” McCauley said. “Due to COVID-19, many of our volunteers can’t come into the hospital and she has stepped up to the plate in every way possible.”
Besides being an outstanding volunteer, Nancy is a dedicated mother and grandmother. She spends her time outside of volunteering with her family, at the gym, reading, and can always find time for her favorite activities - cooking and baking.
“She also volunteers as part of South County Health’s Garden Club and always helps to make the front of the hospital and the Medical Office Building look amazing,” McCauley said.
Nancy has contributed significantly as part of the Hospital Auxiliary, improving patient experience, and in her current role of patient escort.
In her six years of volunteer service, Nancy has been named Volunteer of the Month twice.
“We are so proud that she is our Volunteer of the Year for 2020,” McCauley said.
