South County Hospital has been named one of America’s healthiest companies after receiving the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) Gold Well Workplace Award.
The award is given annually to companies that impact the overall health and well-being of their employees by designing and offering programs that promote healthy living. In order to receive the award, companies must work to meet a set of criteria, which include capturing CEO support, creating cohesive wellness teams, collecting data to drive health efforts, and evaluating outcomes, among others.
“We are dedicated to providing our employees with the resources they need in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle," said Joanne Soccio, South County Health's human resources benefits coordinator. "In just one year, staff participation in our Well Beyond program grew by 80 percent.” “We believe that achieving excellence starts with a healthy body and mind and are pleased to have received an award that reflects our efforts”.
South County Hospital's Well Beyond program promotes healthy lifestyles and optimal well-being through a variety of services. The services and offerings are centered on five themes: physical activity, nutrition, preventive care and medical risks, resilience, financial wellness and career development. Staff members, as well as their spouses who are eligible to participate, can earn monetary incentives for completing a Well Beyond activity.
South County Hospital continues to enhance and add offerings to its Well Beyond program. The Hospital is eligible to reapply for the WELCOA Workplace Award in 2020.
